Borovets is Bulgaria’s oldest ski resort, situated at 1,300 m in the Rila Mountains just 73 km from Sofia. More family-friendly and affordable than Bansko, it offers 60 km of ski runs with a compact layout that beginners and intermediate skiers find ideal.
The Ski Area
Three ski zones — Sitnyakovo, Martinovi Baraki, and Yastrebets (highest at 2,278 m) — serve all skill levels. Season runs December to March. The resort is accessible from Sofia in under 90 minutes, making it popular for weekend ski trips.
