Nessebar (Nesebar) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site — an ancient city on a small peninsula connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. Dating back 3,000 years, it has more medieval churches per square metre than almost anywhere in Europe, alongside Black Sea beaches and a buzzing summer resort.
Old Town vs New Nessebar
The Old Town on the peninsula is car-free and full of Byzantine churches, ancient fortifications, and traditional wooden architecture. The New Town (on the mainland) has modern hotels, beach clubs, and is connected to Sunny Beach by a continuous beachfront strip.
