Sozopol

Sozopol is an ancient town founded by Greek colonists in 610 BC — one of the oldest settlements on the Black Sea coast. Its charming Old Town of traditional wooden houses, authentic seafood restaurants, and two excellent beaches make it the most characterful resort on the southern coast.

The Old Town sits on a small peninsula and is a protected architectural zone. Narrow cobblestone streets, 19th-century wooden houses jutting over the sea walls, and a relaxed café culture make it unlike any other Bulgarian resort. The Apollonia Arts Festival in September is one of Bulgaria’s major cultural events.
